Paris

by Amanda Friesen

Sorry it's taken me so long to get these photos up! After I got home from my trip, I was so exhausted from running around for three weeks, I needed to chill. There were 3000 photos on my camera, so I had to make sure I picked the best ones to show you guys!

We arrived in Paris on May 16th, in the afternoon. We took a train from London. It was sooooo hot in our train car and then we got lost trying to find our hotel (because we were trying to budget and not pay for cabs). I think we arrived at our hotel at around 5 PM. Needless to say it was a long day hehe. I have split up our trip by day so that it makes more sense. Enjoy!

DAY 1

We stayed at Hotel Sofia, in the 18th arrondissement, near Montmartre. We went for a walk after dinner and discovered this view from the Sacre Coeur.

I was so excited to be in Paris. It had always been a dream of mine to go there. It finally came true and I couldn't be happier!

I will never tire of Paris architecture and balconies.

DAY 2

After our half day in Paris on the 16th, we set out the next day to see all of the land marks. We got off the metro at the Champs d'Elysees stop and the Arc de Triomphe was majestically awaiting us. So gorgeous!

We went to the flagship Maison Laduree and it was what dreams are made of. The interior was so beautiful and the sweets were to die for, of course.

I was quite sad to leave Canada because I have an unhealthy addiction to Diet Coke and everyone told me Coca Cola Light was awful. Well I tried it and they couldn't have been more WRONG. I loved it :)

Sigh. It gives me goose bumps to look back at these gorgeous photos.

We were almost at the Eiffel Tower! Leanne and I were so excited to see it so close and we couldn't wait to get even closer.

And there it was. Standing so magnificently before us. It was seriously breathtaking.

Being goofy!

The line up to go to the top of the Tower was really long, so we waited in the line to only go to the first floor. To be honest, it was high enough for me. Any higher and I may have passed out hehe.

We ended day 2 with a short but sweet visit to Le Jardin de Luxembourg. It was peaceful to sit and observe all of the people!

DAY 3

Leanne and I decided that we would visit Versailles on day 3 and it was well worth it.

We took the train back into Paris and by that time the clouds had rolled in. Another quick stop to the Eiffel Tower and we were on our way back to our hotel for the evening. Not without a crepe first of course!

DAY 4

Day 4 was somewhat of a bust. The weather was not that good and we spent a lot of time trying to find places and we just couldn't find them. We actually accidentally came across the Au Printemps shops.

Finally found the Chanel flagship store after searching for hours!

More gorgeous architecture. I didn't take as many photos on this day because of the rain and the lack of monumental landmarks hehe.

DAY 5

Our last day in Paris was spent wandering and enjoying our time. We found the Louvre and it was kind of amazing to see it in person.

It was also an accident that we came across the lock bridge. Of course, we had to buy one.

I'm not sure if any of you have heard this, but apparently they took down all of the locks on this bridge recently. This makes me sad, but also glad we were able to put ours up beforehand. I wish I could explain the sheer amount of locks that were tearing down the sides of this bridge. It was crazy!

Throwing our key into the Seine river! We will be back someday Pareeeee.

Our last evening was bitter sweet. This is the Pont d'Alexandre and it was spectacular. The architecture in Europe is insane (in a good way hehe).
