Santorini

by Amanda Friesen

Good evening everyone! Anyone else happy that the weekend is almost here? I know I am! The weather has been fantastic here, a little hot, but I'm not going to complain ;)

This is my second to last post from Europe. I'm kind of sad that it is coming to an end, but I hope you all have been enjoying reading my travel posts. So without any further ado, here is my post from our week in Santorini!

We arrived in Santorini on May 27th and we stayed at a little boutique hotel in Fira called Villa Soula. It was a 2 minute walk to the city centre which was a bonus! We only stayed at this hotel for one night because we had decided at the last minute that we were going to come to the island a day early.

The next day, we moved to our second hotel, which was even cuter than our first one! It was called Anatoli Hotel. This one was still in Fira, but it was a little bit farther away from the centre. The one thing I loved about staying here was the little pathways that you had to walk thru to get to anywhere in the town. I miss it a lot.

All in all, Santorini was my favourite place we went to in Europe. When we saw the cliffside suites, it was like all of the air had been sucked out of my lungs. I couldn't believe how breathtakingly beautiful it was. I hope you all enjoy the photos! I didn't take any photos on the first day we were there, so I will start with day 2! I look forward to hearing what you guys think.

DAY 2

This was our room/balcony at Anatoli Hotel. We got upgraded to this amazing room because we requested two beds on Booking.com. Sometimes it is worth it to make those requests guys!

The weather was super stormy on day 2! We had to stay in our room for most of the day because we were about to get rained out. This gorgeous view from our balcony really helped though!

DAY 3

Day 3 was still cloudy and somewhat cold, but we decided to venture out anyways. I loved exploring the island.

We ended up walking to FiroStefani and came across this view. It was the first time in my life that I had ever felt so alive. It's a difficult feeling to describe but it was something that I have never experienced.

DAY 4

We rented an ATV on this day and took it around the island. Gas is cheap and you can literally go anywhere within a 45 minute radius, the island is so small. Oia was on our list for this day.

Needless to say, it didn't disappoint. It was gorgeous.

DAY 5

We went to Perivolos Beach on day 5. We took a bus that actually took us in circles and we were so annoyed. I suppose it was an experience haha.

Gorgeous view of the caldera. Oia can be seen in the far left corner of this photo. Fira is in the centre of the island. We took another ATV out this day.

DAY 7

Our last day was bittersweet. We spent a lot of the day chilling by the pool and hanging out. I also got a tattoo hehe.

Well, there you have it! This blog post took a LOT of time and effort and I hope you all enjoyed reading.

P.S. Many people we talked to were shocked that we stayed in Santorini for a whole week and didn't venture off to any other islands. I must say that it was SO nice to relax after a hectic two weeks running around. I wouldn't change a moment of it!

Up next: the last leg of our trip; London.
